Helical Tower Bases
We design and install modern helical tower base structures for a fraction of the cost of traditional concrete-poured bases.
Tower base construction has usually been costly, time-consuming, and not feasible for much of the terrain and soil types we encounter throughout the Mid-South. American Standard Foundation Repair designs and installs modern helical tower base structures for a fraction of the cost of traditional concrete-poured bases. We can install piers and bases produced with modern materials and engineering in four seasons and wet weather, providing superior stability and useful lifespans.
Helical piers, piles, or anchors describe the shape of the underground support structure engineered to maintain a constant support angle to efficiently distribute the above-ground load of a tower structure through the solid, highly compact soil deep underground. The helix-based shape of the plates attached to the central pier allows the base anchor to be driven through loose upper soil deep enough to reach the most stable deep earth material.
The bases we install do not require extensive excavation or the weather conditions that traditionally-poured concrete demands. As a result, our base installation causes minimal disruption to the landscape and hardscaping already in place at your facility. When a designed use requires removal or replacement in the future, helical piles can be removed from the ground and reused or recycled.
The bases we install are ideal for telecommunications towers, water towers, above-ground fuel, oil, or water tanks, and the wide variety of above-ground storage structures used in industrial, commercial, and agricultural settings. The helical base design is also an excellent choice for equipment platforms for compressors, generators, dehydrators, separators, building skids, and launcher/receiver units.
Helical bases are also a superior choice for tower construction sites that are difficult to access or are remote.
The materials and equipment needed to install the bases are not difficult to transport, and the piles can be installed at multiple angles as the particular terrain demands. In situations where construction is close to neighbors or sensitive environments, the base installation creates lower vibration and noise levels than traditional pile-driving.
Helical piles are also a highly efficient and cost-effective solution for installing guy wires when they are appropriate as additional support for new or retrofitted towers. The variety of helical pier structures and our team’s engineering capabilities allow for a virtually unlimited number of configurations that best match your proposed tower size and load with the soil and terrain conditions at your site.
