Fairgarden, Tennessee, isn't a place you'll find on any postcard. We've got all the usual Southern charm – the sweet tea, the slow drawl, those front porch swings perfect for lazy afternoons. But dig a little deeper and you'll find a whole other layer to this town, something a bit quirky and more than a little unusual.

Fairgarden's fertile soil drew hardy settlers from North Carolina in the early 1800s. They named their newfound home Fair Garden after the verdant fields that promised prosperity. The town blossomed, officially incorporating in 1845 as Fairgarden. It wasn't long before whispers of its scenic beauty reached beyond the county lines. Tourists flocked to Fairgarden in the early 1900s, drawn by the promise of bountiful fishing and hunting. Alongside its natural charm, the town thrived with a bustling lumber industry, the buzz of sawmills echoing through the growing community.

We're a close-knit community of about 500. Farming's still a big part of who we are – the smell of soybeans in the spring and freshly turned earth in the fall is as familiar as a neighbor's wave. Downtown isn't flashy, but it's got the essentials: a well-stocked pharmacy, a diner where you can always find a friendly face, and the TSC Tractor Supply Company, where you're likely to get an earful of gossip along with your gardening supplies. And if you're looking for a night out, The Roaming Gnome Pub & Eatery always has something going on, from local bands to some surprisingly good karaoke.

Now, don't think Fairgarden's food scene is all about biscuits and gravy (although we do that well too). The WildFlour Bakehouse is a local favorite, with cupcakes so pretty you almost don't want to eat them...until you do, and then you immediately want another. Over at Trotter's Whole Hog BBQ, they pile the pulled pork high and have a whole wall of sauces, from zesty vinegar to a habanero blend that'll set your mouth happily on fire. And Chubby’s Restaurant? Well, that's a Sunday tradition, with country fried steak, fried okra, and the kind of mashed potatoes that makes you close your eyes in pure bliss.

Sevier County Park is a vibrant community space. Its open fields, modern playground, and walking paths beckon visitors to unwind and play. From family picnics to solo strolls or spirited games, the park offers a welcoming setting for outdoor enjoyment.

Speaking of strange, Fairgarden's got a reputation for, well...the unusual. Our annual Possum Festival is legendary, complete with a possum pie contest that, thankfully, tastes much better than it sounds. Every now and then, someone claims they saw a UFO hovering over a cornfield, and those old cemetery stories could keep you up way past your bedtime. Whether there's any truth behind the tales or not, they sure are entertaining.

One thing folks around here understand is that our soil has a mind of its own. It's mostly heavy clay, which is mighty fine for growing crops, but it can be a headache when it comes to building foundations. With all the expanding and shrinking our ground does, cracks and sinking are almost a rite of passage. That's why you’ll appreciate the work of American Standard Foundation Repair. If you're looking for a place where the usual takes an unexpected detour, a town with as much personality as it does pecan pie, Fairgarden just might surprise you. Don't be afraid to come on down, you never know what you'll discover. And if those foundation cracks are keeping you up at night, American Standard Foundation Repair is here to help.
